Santos the Explorer - Cartier and Bartorelli in Cortina d'Ampezzo

On Friday, March 1st, the Bartorelli Gioiellerie in Cortina d'Ampezzo organized the cocktail presentation of the exhibition dedicated to the iconic Santos de Cartier, the first wristwatch of History, inaugurating a beautiful installation that recounted the deeds of the intrepid protagonist of the horological adventure that has made history. During the event, in the heart of Corso Italia, it was possible to admire the entire Cartier collection and discover the details of the history of the iconic timepiece created in 1904 by Louis Cartier for his friend Alberto Santos-Dumont, Brazilian magnate and pioneer of the flight that had asked for a more practical alternative to the pocket watch, inconvenient to consult when he was at the controls of his airship. The Parisian jeweler specifically made a unique example, with the case provided with attachments for a leather strap. Thus was born the first wrist specimen of History, and together the relationship between watchmaking and aviation. That prototype, called precisely Cartier Santos, went into production in 1911 and has since become an icon of Cartier. During the cocktail, the invited guests enjoyed a live DJ set and a mixology bar that served dreamy cocktails inspired by the Santis, the Bartorelli Rare and Unique jewel and the Cortina mountains.
The installation was open to the public for the carnival weekend.
